Midwest Karate Club is a member of the Japan Karate Association of Canada and the Japan Karate Association International of America. These organizations govern the technical aspects of grading and technical development for Canada and the Western Hemisphere respectively.

The head of the system of training is Master Nishiyama, a world-renowned leader and instructor of Traditional Karate. Master Nishiyama is the Chairman of the International Traditional Karate Federation, recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the world body responsible for the governance of Traditional Karate.
